Experimental Design
A. What is the scientific methodThe scientific method is a group of procedures that people use when they're trying to figure out the answer to a question that they have. Sometimes the process must be repeated in order to confirm the results. If it doesn't add up (if the hypothesis is false) you should construct a new hypothesis.

B. Refrence LinksC. Scientific Method steps1. Develop your question.
2. Research. 3. Create your Hypothesis. 4. Test with and experiment/ data. 5. Analyze your results and create a conclusion. 6. If your hypothesis is true then report your results. (If its false or partially true try again). 7. Report your results once its true. D.Practicing the scientific methodI explored 1) graphing, 2) identifying variables, 3) developing hypotheses, 4-5) designing a controlled experiment and 6) predicting results with a partner.

E. Experimental DataPart 1: I was given data in order to create the graph below. My graph demonstrates an inverse relationship between the added concentration of ethylene and the maturity rate of the apples overtime, because it was observed that as the additional concentration of ethylene increases the maturity rate of the apples overtime decreases. This is due to the effects of ethylene which is known to be released by the plants naturally which causes the apples to mature much quicker.

F. VariablesPart 2: Potential environmental variables
1. Sunlight 2. Temperature 3 Rain G.HypothesisPart 3: I selected sunlight as the variable from the list of environmental variables that I developed with a partner.
Independent Variable: The independent variable is the concentration of the added ethylene to the apples. Dependent Variable: The dependent variable is the days overtime for the apples to mature. |
H.Control GroupsPart 4: The control group for the experiment will be a group of apple trees will be in a greenhouse with an ideal amount of sun. Control groups are important because with them you are able to understand if your hypothesis is correct. The reason being is because you will have two groups one will stay normal. The other one however will involve your hypothesis(what you think may happen). After a period of time this will help you in your final conclusions.

J. Expected Results
Part 6: Once the experiment is over what I expect to see is the apples in the greenhouse in 24 hours of sunlight will mature much quicker and have better results because it is in the sun and the sun gives vital nutrients to plants. I also believe that since the other group which is group b will mature not as fast due to the lack of sunlight and it will not have promising results due to the lack of some vital nutrients.
K.Deeper Analysis Viewing Experiments
My hypothesis on Gatorade effectiveness than vitamin effectiveness after a work outI believe that if you were to give an athlete Gatorade after a work out that it will be more effective than giving them vitamin water.
Independent Variable: Giving the first group of athletes vitamin water and giving the second group Gatorade Dependent Variable: The effectiveness of either drink |
Experimental Procedure1. Get a group of healthy athletes and divide them into two groups.
2. Give each group the same workout plan to do and send them off to do the workout plan for two hours 3. Once they get back give the first group Gatorade and give the second group vitamin water. 4. Once they've finished the water see who has more energy. |
Control GroupsControl groups: The control group for the experiment is that the athletes will be working out for two hours doing the same workout plan.
Experimental group: The experimental group for the experiment is that the first group will receive Gatorade after their workout and the other will receive vitamin water after their workout. |
Expected resultsOnce the experiment has been completed I have come up with a prediction. I predict that since athletes burn essential electrolytes as they workout that it will be more effective than giving an athlete vitamin water. Besides vitamin water only gives vitamins. Besides drinking Gatorade is recommended to drink after a workout.
